The Black Watch: From LA, playing as an acoustic duo on this tour. They've been called "a national treasure" with "17+ CDs of remarkable consistency." From a review of their 2011 release, Led Zeppelin Five: "It is the simple beauty of their shimmering pop songs—a marvelous confection that harks back to mid-period Beatles, the Soft Boys, and a sort of west coast Yo La Tengo."
Raquel Bell: Based in Gholson, TX, and touring to celebrate the release of her first solo ablum. For the past twelve years, Bell has performed in and toured with bands. She's the co-founder of MESIKO and the vocalist and midi percussionist for the art-noise pilgrims, Normal Love. Jessica Pavone and Raquel Bell both received New Music America grants for their playing in Normal Love and together formed the offshoot, Dark Tips.
In addition to playing in bands, Bell has performed in contemporary opera and has also made numerous compositions for art installations around the country. In May, Bell will be the artist in residence at The Museum of Human Achievement in Austin and will create individual hand-cut vinyl 7" singles with original artwork that will be available at the shows.
Bell's solo music is a mixture of country, folk, punk, and sci-fi played on organ and guitar.
