Gilgongo Records hits 10 years old this December. To celebrate, Sissy Spacek will be coming out from Los Angeles to play the Phoenix area for the first time. A hyper-prolific project of sound artist John Wiese, Spacek have had 7 releases on Gilgongo over the years (2 7"s, 4 CDs and an LP). Their most recent 7" on the label (2014's "Incomprehensible Dehumanization") is scathing and obliterated noise-core at it's finest.
Stephen Steinbrink (currently from nowhere, USA), released his first few full lengths on Gilgongo (starting with his self-titled release under the French Quarter moniker in 2008). He recently released his 7th full length on UK's Melodic Records.
Arizona's Cherie Cherie were recently kind enough to allow their beautiful self-released 12" to be reissued on the label. Originally limited to just 100 copies, 300 more are now on their way (the band already has copies now).
Resurrected from a dormant state, MALLEVS will be treating us with an unexpected helping of primitive industrial / tape music. Their debut cassette on Ascetic House found it's way onto the LP format earlier this year; the band will have the final copies of this release available for sale at this show.
James Fella (who runs Gilgongo Records from his own home and in whatever spare time can be found) will have a "junk art" and "sound work" installation at The Trunk Space for the month of December. At the show's opening on December 5th, a piece which is meant to be performed for an infinite period of time using 4 12" lacquers, guitar and drums will run for the duration of the evening. A condensed version of this piece will open the Gilgongo 10 year show, promptly at 7:20pm.
Gilgongo Records was founded in December 2004 and has since released over 75 records and lathe cuts (and occasionally a CD or two) for artists across North America such as Shearing Pinx, Zs, Arrington de Dionyso, Stephen Steinbrink & French Quarter, Foot Village, Little Women, Woods, Raccoo-oo-oon, Bromp Treb, NO BABIES, Pigeon Religion, Wounded Lion, Olivia Neutron-John, Wasteland Jazz Unit, Tiger Hatchery, etc etc etc.
Gilgongo is distributed by Revolver USA / Midheaven, CTD Ltd. and in part by Ebullition. Aside from releases on the label, Gilgongo is also a mail order with 500+ new and used releases covering punk, free jazz, noise, dub, folk, etc etc etc (again).
The entire distro will be dragged out and set up for the 10 year anniversary show.
